What decorative concreting is

Decorative concreting is any concrete finished to look like a feature rather than a plain grey slab. The most popular is exposed aggregate, where the top layer of cement is washed back to reveal the stones set in the concrete, giving a textured, hard-wearing surface that suits driveways, paths and pool surrounds. The Geostone process

As an approved installer of Geostone Holcim, a typical residential job takes 4 to 6 days, laid and finished to the manufacturer’s standard:

• Days 1–2: Preparation. Excavation, site prep, steel fixing and formwork.
• Days 3–4: Pour and wash. The concrete is poured, then the top layer is washed back to expose the aggregate.
• Days 5–6: Acid wash and seal. The surface is acid washed, then finished with a penetrating sealer that lasts 5 to 10 years (less on high-traffic driveways). On driveways or slabs with a big slope, we also add a non-slip additive to boost the grip.

The best finish depends on where it’s going, how much traffic it gets and the look you’re after.
