Common questions

Residential Concreting questions

01How long before I can use a new concrete driveway?
After the pour, you can walk on it after about 2 days, and drive on it after 1 to 2 weeks. If it's a sealed driveway, once the sealer is applied you can walk on it 2 days later and drive on it after 5 days.
02Do you do the slab for a new home or granny flat?
Yes. We prepare and pour foundation slabs for new homes, extensions and granny flats, finished ready for the build to continue.
03Can you match a decorative finish to my house?
We'll talk through colour and finish options so the driveway or benchtop suits your home. We also bring a range of physical samples with us when we come to site, so you can see and touch the finish before deciding.
04Is it normal for concrete to crack?
Yes, some hairline cracking is natural in concrete as it expands and contracts. We minimise it by applying a curing agent and cutting in expansion joints where they're needed. You should only be concerned if a crack opens up beyond 5mm or the concrete itself shifts or moves.
05How thick and how strong is the concrete you use?
For a driveway, we pour a minimum of 100 to 125mm thick at 32MPa minimum. For a house slab, thickness ranges from 80 to 200mm and strength from 25 to 40MPa, depending on the engineering specs for that build.
